MarioWiki:Nintendo Independent Wiki Alliance

NIWA, short for Nintendo Independent Wiki Alliance is a network of independent wikis that try to cover all the information about Nintendo.

History

NIWA began with the aproachment of Template:ZW to affiliate with Template:BP. Some time after, ZW administrators, Axiomist and Mandy, contacted Porplemontage about an alliance with the ZeldaWiki, which he refused.
Later, Bulbapedia's headmaster, Archaic, made this topic in our forums which lead to a formal discussion about the then-called INW.
Progress was made, and after some days, MarioWiki's owner, Porplemontage, agreed on the alliance and the Super Mario Wiki became the third founding member.
Child wikis, WiKirby and Metroid Wiki were later created to become a part of NIWA.

Name origin

There were many proposals for the name, but the one that was eventually chosen was NIWA, partially because it means "garden" in japanese. The japanese characters in the background mean "NIWA"
