De-Evolution is a term used to describe someone who has devolved in the Super Mario Bros. film. The victims of De-Evolution are usually turned into Goombas, and in a few cases, Humans are turned into monkeys. It is assumed that all the other Goombas in the movie were created the same way. In the Super Mario Bros. film, De-Evolution was possible through the use of a special machine. The first known victim of De-Evolution witnessed by the Mario Bros. was Toad. In turn, the same machine can also increase intelligence which was proven on Spike. Later in the movie, King Koopa used a special gun called a De-Evolution Gun to De-Evolve Anthony Scapelli into a chimp.
