- Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games (pictured) was released in Europe on October 16, in Australia on October 15 and in North America on October 13, 2009. A demo of the DS version is available on the Nintendo Channel in Europe.
- Lou Albano, the actor who portrayed Mario on The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, passed away on October 14, 2009 at the age of 76.
