- Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games (pictured) was released in Australia on October 15 and in North America on October 13, 2009. A demo of the DS version is available on the Nintendo Channel in Europe.
- Lou Albano, the actor who portrayed Mario on The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, passed away on October 14, 2009 at the age of 76.
- There is a new competition in Mario Kart Wii. The player must go through 8 gates in order. It is set in Daisy Circuit through October 15 – October 25, 2009.
