| '''Firefoxes''' are enemies found only on the [[100m|rivet stage]] of ''[[Donkey Kong (game)|Donkey Kong]]''. They are smarter, larger, and faster than their [[Fire]] counterparts of the other stages and chase [[Mario]] more intently. They can be dispatched with a [[hammer]]. Unlike Fire, which comes out of an [[oil drum]], firefoxes spawn from the opposite side of the screen from where Mario is standing. There is a limit of up to five firefoxes on screen in the arcade version and four for the NES port.
