- “So... I'll take you with me... ...to the deep dark...”
- —Big Lantern Ghost, Paper Mario
The Big Lantern Ghost is the mid-boss of the Shy Guy's Toy Box in the game Paper Mario. Although he carries a lantern, the Big Lantern Ghost lives in an extremely dark room. In fact, he loves darkness and dreads light. As such, Mario and his partners should attack the ghost's lantern, which in turn causes the room to brighten. Bow's slap attacks are highly effective as they will cause the lantern to immediately light the entire room. When the room is completely lit, Mario and company can attack the Big Lantern Ghost directly. After the ghost is defeated, Mario can shatter the lantern with his Hammer. A Li'l Sparky named Watt will emerge from the lantern. As it turns out, she was trapped in the lantern and forced to be the Big Lantern Ghost's light source. After Mario frees her, Watt becomes Mario's sixth companion.
As shown by the name, the Big Lantern Ghost is a giant Lantern Ghost.
