Their English name comes most likely from the term Sack Hop or possibly the words sack and top. Their Japanese name, Shokuchu, comes from 食虫植物 ''Shokuchūshokubutsu,'' meaning "carnivorous plant."

Several Sockops

Sockops are bag-like plant enemies in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. If Mario or Luigi try to jump on them, they will be sucked into the hole on the top of the Sockop's head. They attack by tackling the brothers.
