Spiny Eggs are the projectiles thrown by Lakitu. Spiny Eggs are small, usually red balls covered in spikes. Despite the name, a Spiny Egg is not an egg at all! It is simply a Spiny rolled up into a ball. They are invincible while in this state. In New Super Mario Bros., it is revealed that a Spiny will curl back up into a Spiny Egg when touched with water, and can float at the surface.
