The Nintendo Comics System series, published by Valiant Comics, made comic books of many Nintendo characters, including Mario. He usually turned up paired with other characters, like Captain N or Link. They were quite funny, and featured special little pages like "Ask Princess Toadstool" and fake advertisements, like one for Koopa Kola(Now available in regular and extra-fat sizes!).
