The Crystal King is an enemy Mario had to face before his final confrontation with Bowser in Paper Mario. The Crystal King guarded the last Star Spirit, Kalmar, in the Crystal Palace. The Crystal King's body is invisible and he can also make his cloak and crown invisible too. The Crystal King can fly, summon Crystal Bits and shoot ice beams. When he gets desperate, he begins cloning himself and recovering HP.
The Crystal King is incredibly powerful and Mario's survival is not guaranteed. If not beaten quick enough, the Crystal King will recover twenty HP at least three times. Mario should equip badges that can bypass defense, as well and multi-strike badges. Watt comes in handy because her main attack can breach denfense and doesn't use FP. When the Crystal King clones himself, Mario should use any multi-strike items he has (items such as Thunder Rage). The special attacks Time Stop and Star Storm are also necessary.
When Mario defeats him, the Crystal King says, "Oh no! The last Star Spirit!! King Bowser, forgive meeeeeeeee!!". He then spins out of control and disappears while sparks are flying away from him.
Crystal King's Stats
- HP: 70
- Attack: 6
- Defense: 2
- Location: Crystal Palace
- Tattle: He's one of Bowser's main guys. I don't know how he managed to take over this palace, but... He'll attack you by summoning and launching Crystal Bits. The power of each attack is 4. The number of times he attacks equals the number of Crystal Bits he's deployed. He'll also try to freeze you whenever he can. When his HP is low, he may try to divide and conquer. The power of this attack is 8. You can hurt him only by attacking his real body. If you don't know which one's the main body, you should attack all of them. Pretty brilliant, eh?
- Attacks:
Crystal Bit Toss: Swallows Crystal Bits and spits them at Mario. Does 4 damage per hit.
Ice Bolt: Shoots a bolt of ice at Mario. Does 6 damage and can freeze Mario.
Mist: After the king duplicates himself, he and the fake kings will blow ice at Mario. Does 8 damage.
Crystal King Copy's Stats
- HP 70
- Attack 5
- Defense 0
- Tattle: I think this is a deceptive duplicate of the Crystal King. Since it's just an illusion, all of your attacks will just go through it. Just a reminder, Mario... You must damage the real one.
Crystal Bit's Stats
- HP 1
- Attack 4
- Defense 0
- Tattle: This is a Crystal Bit. Basically, Crystal Bits are just pieces of the Crystal King. You can drop 'em with ease. Their Max HP is 1 and they're only dangerous when the Crystal King spews 'em out. Their defense power is 0. These guys are pretty weak. They'll keep coming, though, until you've finally beaten the Crystal King.
