Couple Problems Here

One: The Ultra Stone (which has it's whole own article anyway) just looks like a shiny, perfectly spherical ... sphere. It also does not look at all crystal. Is there some reason this is here?

Two: I'm pretty sure the Mini Marios are in plastic capsules,

where are (like the ultra stone) balls, but not crystal. Any special reason this is here?

The object in Mario vs. Donkey Kong is obviously not a crystal ball, it's a gashapon-style capsule ball. The article says that they're "more capsule-like" in the remake, but I think that was pretty clear to begin with. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:22, April 7, 2025 (EDT)

That's what they're based on, but they're called 'crystal balls' in the advertisement (both versions, and JP box artMedia:MvsDK_JP_Cover.jpg). That said, they're definitely redesigned in the remake. You can tell they're plain orbsMedia:Rivalryrenewed.jpg in the original, and in the animation where the Mini-Mario is freed, the ball shatters as if it's made out of glass; in the remake, you not only see both halvesMedia:MvDK NS Mini Mario Orb.png, but it breaks apart in two like it's plastic (as it should, the original was a safety hazard!). I always figured that was just the GBA's CG being grainy. There's even a glass-shattering sound effect when it breaks open. But if the idea is to possibly move it to a "Crystal ball (Mario vs. Donkey Kong)" page, I don't mind either way. Crystal balls are normally more of a general subject. To be honest, this page has been in dire need of a rewrite. It's a strange hybrid of generic subject and being very specifically about the two distinct Crystal Ball key items in the Paper Mario games, and it succeeds at being basically none of those. ~Camwoodstock ( talk • contribs ) 20:23, April 7, 2025 (EDT)

@Doc Isn't that just a reflection from the other one in the bag? Not sure if I'm seeing what you're seeing. At any rate, remake updates the design with a horizontal rim to make the inspiration more obvious. @Cam Maybe splitting more of them could help, though there wouldn't be much to say about them in individual articles.
