Mario & Luigi: Dream Team (known as Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros. in European languages) is a title for the Nintendo 3DS. It is the fourth installment in the Mario & Luigi series, preceded by Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story from 2009, and succeeded by Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam in 2015. The story follows Mario and Luigi's journey on Pi'illo Island to rescue Princess Peach from Antasma and Bowser and to stop them from conquering the real world with the Dream Stone. During this journey, they find and rescue an ancient species of the island called the Pi'illos. One Pi'illo, Prince Dreambert, accompanies the brothers and Starlow in order to help them. This game is part of "The Year of Luigi," celebrating the 30th anniversary of Luigi's debut. As such, Luigi has a much bigger role in the game than in the previous Mario & Luigi games. Many of the game's mechanics in the Dream World center around him, including Luiginary Works, Luiginoids, Luiginary Attacks, and Giant Luigi. Mario & Luigi: Dream Team is a graphically pivotal entry in the Mario & Luigi series, as its art style has been used in all future installments in the series (Paper Jam, Bowser's Minions, and Bowser Jr.'s Journey). The name comes from the term "dream team", a team composed of the greatest performers of a certain talent.
There have been several rumors, misconceptions, and urban legends regarding production history, fictional details, and gameplay elements within the Super Mario franchise. While the origins of some rumors remain a mystery, others stem from unsourced edits on articles on Wikipedia or the Super Mario Wiki. Others have been spread through misinterpretation, or jokes being received and spread as fact.
