Balloon Panic is a minigame found in Mario Power Tennis. The goal is to stop Klaptraps from popping any DK balloons. If a Klaptrap is hit three times, it will fall off, and the player will gain one point. There are three Klaptrap colors: green, red and blue. Green ones are slow, red ones are fast and blue ones are very fast. They all follow an electric current of the same color. To change it, one must hit a vine panel to divert a Klaptrap to an empty space.

Balloon Panic from Mario Power Tennis.
Gameplay in single-player mode

Balloon Panic is a minigame in Mario Power Tennis.

Overview[edit]

Set on DK Jungle Court, Balloon Panic involves protecting balloons from any Klaptraps. The player earns a point for any Klaptrap they hit three times. From slowest to fastest, Klaptraps are present in the green, red, and blue varieties; all of them follow an identically colored electric current, which can be changed by hitting a panel to send a Klaptrap to an empty space.

The difficulty levels are "Panic" (Easy), "Super Panic" (Normal), "Ultra-Hyper Panic" (Hard), and "Balloon Panic Challenge" (Bonus). "Panic" requires defeating 10 Klaptraps while defending two balloons; "Super Panic" is 20 Klaptraps and three blue balloons; "Ultra-Hyper Panic" is 30 Klatraps and four yellow balloons; and "Balloon Panic Challenge" is a variation with four green balloons that ends only when a balloon is popped. The New Play Control! release has four balloons in every difficulty setting and swaps red and yellow balloons between difficulty settings.
