Breakable blocks[citation needed] appear throughout the Wario Land series. They serve a similar role as the Brick Blocks of the Super Mario series, being able to be destroyed with any attack Wario uses on them. They can be destroyed from the side with a Dash Attack, and as such are sometimes arranged in groups that must be dug through from the side. In certain games, there are also breakable portions of walls, floors, and ceilings, with the same behavior as these blocks.

History

Wario Land series

Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3

In Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3, Wario in his base form can destroy blocks by hitting them from below or by Dash Attacking from the side. It takes two hits to destroy a block, with it becoming cracked on the first hit. Bull Wario can destroy blocks in one hit, and can Ground Pound, which also destroys blocks.

Blocks are often found in horizontal lines, the same way Brick Blocks are usually arranged, but they are also found in bulkier clusters, such as in Course No.04, where Wario's way through a narrow tunnel is repeatedly blocked by them.

Virtual Boy Wario Land

  • I need to look at some footage of this game again.
  • Apparently big version can only be broken by Bull Wario.

Wario Land II

  • Breakable blocks, breakable pots, breakable walls – lots of reskins. And there's big blocks.

Wario Land 3

In Wario Land 3, blocks are pink, and come in two main variations: damaged and solid. Damaged blocks can be broken from the beginning of the game, while solid blocks require the Super Smash power-up to break.

  • Dash Attack: base form rebounds off damaged blocks, upgraded form goes through damaged blocks but rebounds off solid blocks
  • Smash Attack: upgrading works the same, but you need a powerup before you can even use it!

Wario Land 4

  • I'm currently thinking to consider brown blocks the same as the other games' blocks, and leave the blue block page alone, considering it a variant of them.
  • Basically, copy the information from the current brown block page.

WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase

The Wario Land microgame of WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase features the brown blocks from Wario Land 4. In the microgame, Wario must destroy a brown block with a Dash Attack on his way to defeat a Spear-Mask.
