Returning a lob with this power shot when its at the highest point in the air will make the ball fly over small characters, making them unable to return it.

Rainbow Flutter is the Offensive Power Shot of Yoshi in Mario Power Tennis. After doing a Flutter Jump, Yoshi hits the ball, which is trailed by a rainbow and slows whomever is hit. It is not possible for smaller player characters to return the ball from a Rainbow Flutter if it used at the highest point in the air.
