Plant or Not?
Much like Dark Nokonoko, This is a derived name candidate with inconsistent official localization. Wonder Piranha Plant, or simply Wonder Piranha? The former feels like a more "safe" option, contracting the name could make it sound more "official" than warranted. On the other hand, the latter name is consistent with Cloud Piranhas who have a similar role in the same game, and they do bear a noteworthy resemblance to Piranha Creepers.--PopitTart (talk) 16:04, December 21, 2024 (EST)
- Should also mention that the Trottin' Piranha Plant are called "Run Run Pakkun" in Japanese, too.

- Personally, I think Wonder Piranha is a more direct translation and it is the one I support. However, I personally would have done that for the other Piranha Plant enemies impacted by this proposal, so my perspective could be biased. - Nintendo101 (talk) 08:50, December 22, 2024 (EST)
- The vast majority of Piranha Plant enemies don't have "Flower" in their Japanese names, just "Packun". One notable exception being Big Piranha Plant. But in English, many of them have the full "Piranha Plant". Considering this game also has Melon Piranha Plant, I'd personally go with "Wonder Piranha Plant" here. - And now we've come to a crossroads due to the Trottin' Piranha Plant and Wonder Piranha translations. Personally, I would go with "Wonder Piranha" over "Wonder Piranha Plant", because translating "Packun" as "Piranha Plant" and not just "Piranha" when "Packun Flower" exists in full two-word form always bugged me. It feels like localization really wants to hammer it in that these are the names of plants and not fish? I don't think anyone's making that mistake, though. - I say we name it "Wonder Piranha". Not only does it roll off the tongue better, but they're closely related to Cloud Piranhas, which don't have "Plant" in their name. Mikan-chan (talk) 7:54, February 7, 2025 (EST)
