I was going to just mark this as resolved due to inactivity, but this raises a good question... why is there inconsistency between [[Informant Snifit]] and [[Bridge Kinopio]]? Should the former be moved? I would also say sure to moving this page to "Kinopio engineer", though I do want to hear some more thoughts on this first. :Just as I thought I should go ahead and make the move to "Kinopio engineer" (as official names, even dev names, are preferrable to conjectural names), I realize the [[Sunset Express conductor]] would have to be renamed to "Engineer Kinopio"... yeah, I'm not sure what to do here. I'm going to go ahead and move "Informant Snifit" to "Informant Mūcho" and mark it from being from dev data though. Name[edit]
So, this Toad runs both Toad's Automoboots and Toad's Automoboats. It's kind of strange to include only one, so should we change this page's name? Scrooge200 (talk) 20:11, August 22, 2020 (EDT)
- Is there any name you have in mind? Nightwicked Bowser
- I was considering something like "Breezy Tunnel mechanic," "Toad mechanic," or "Boot Car mechanic" but they all have the same problem. Scrooge200 (talk) 20:19, August 22, 2020 (EDT)
ENGINEER = NOUN = (1) a person who designs, builds, or maintains engines, machines, or public works (2) the operator or supervisor of an engine, especially a railroad locomotive or the engine on an aircraft or ship. "Toad engineer", or something the lines of such, could be the title of this article. Green Star 16:15, September 19, 2020 (EDT)
- Yeah, I think that one would work. Scrooge200 (talk) 16:42, September 19, 2020 (EDT)
Possible official name[edit]
So, \romfs\msg\US_English_Final\msg.msbp lists styles and formatting for various characters. One of these is Kinopio_engineer. It comes between Kinopio_Sailor and Kinopio_Archeology, and the Toads are listed in order of appearance, so I'm pretty sure it refers to this one. Would "Engineer Kinopio" or "Engineer Toad" work as a name? (I'm actually not sure if we translate this or not, considering Informant Snifit does and Bridge Kinopio doesn't.) Scrooge200 (talk) 21:16, June 22, 2021 (EDT)
- Also, this seems consistent with Color Splash.
- \content\script\fld\map\O2\O2_TogeEntrance.bin.lz, \content\script\fld\map\OB\OB_TerminalStation.bin.lz, \content\script\fld\map\OB\OB_Train07_Guard.bin.lz, and \content\script\fld\map\OB\OB_Train08_Boss.bin.lz refer to him as KNP_Engineer.
- In CS, his graphics filename is EKNP (this is also used for his dialogue). In TOK, it's KNPE. Slight rearrangement for consistency, but it's still the same. Scrooge200 (talk) 15:35, June 23, 2021 (EDT)
- Maybe we should merge this with Sunset Express conductor? Scrooge200 (talk) 15:35, June 23, 2021 (EDT)
