Sneeks, also referred to as Squeals, are big rat enemies which first appear in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and later return in Donkey Kong Land III. Sneeks are one of the weakest enemies in both games, and always move around in a back and forth pattern. In this regard, they behave as the successor of two rodent enemies: Neeks from Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Gnawties from Donkey Kong Country. Sneeks appear in various environments, commonly mills, forests, jungles, and mountain ranges.

Sneeks are enemies that appear in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and Donkey Kong Land III. These big rats replace the Gnawties of Donkey Kong Country and the Neeks from Donkey Kong Country 2 as the game's short weak rodent enemy. In the game, they are depicted as indigo-furred rats, yet the Sneek in the artwork shows a more maroon fur. Compared to Neeks, Sneeks have more menacing faces, as well as a less cartoonish anatomy. They also have a more battered appearance, due to having notches on both ears. They can be defeated by any attack, so they are not a real threat. They can be found in all kinds of locations, such as mills, forests, jungles, or mountains. According to the game's credits, Sneeks belong to the "Terrorfirma Tuff Guys" enemy class.
Contrasting Neeks' more cartoony appearance, Sneeks have a more realistic and menacing appearance. In Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, Sneeks have gray fur, although official artwork shows them with brown fur. Sneeks have a battered appearance due to having notches on both ears.

Sneeks play an important role in the level Squeals on Wheels, which takes place inside a mill in Kremwood Forest. In this area, many Sneeks are running around in large wooden wheels. In order to open the doors in their path, Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong must take out all the rats by tossing Steel Kegs at them.

In Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, Sneeks play a major role in a few levels, the first of which is Murky Mill; the level shows that Ellie is scared of Sneeks. Since most of the level is dark, Ellie does not get scared of Sneeks unless they are shown underneath a spotlight. If Ellie approaches a Sneek under a spotlight, she gets scared and runs a short distance away. Ellie can only pass a Sneek in a spotlight if she picks up a nearby barrel and throws it at the enemy. Squeals on Wheels is the second level where Sneeks have a major appearance. In the level, each Sneek is running in a large, wooden mill. Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong can only pass through a nearby gate if they defeat the Sneek corresponding to it. The Kongs can only defeat these Sneeks by throwing a Steel Keg at them. Every Sneek must be defeated for the final door to open. The third level is Stampede Sprint, which also revolves around Ellie's fear of them. Near the start of the level, Ellie sees three Sneeks, which gives her a big scare. As a result, Ellie stampedes away for most of the level.

A notable feature is that Ellie the Elephant will get spooked if she sees a Sneek, causing her to run in panic. In Murky Mill, the fifth level of the game, most Sneeks are too hard for her to see because of the darkness, unless they walk directly under the lights. In this case, Ellie must take care of the rats by tossing Barrels at them from a distance. An entire Krematoa level, called Stampede Sprint, also revolves around this: near the beginning of the level, Ellie will be frightened by three Sneeks, making her to stampede through the jungle. Ellie is not scared of Sneeks in Donkey Kong Land III, although this is likely due to system limitations.
In Dixie Kong's Photo Album, a photograph of Sneek appears under the "Terrorfirma Tuff Guys" enemy class.

Sneeks, also referred to as Squeals,[1] are big rat enemies which first appear in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and later return in Donkey Kong Land III.

Contrasting Neeks' more cartoony appearance, Sneeks have a more realistic and menacing appearance. In Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, Sneeks have gray fur, although official artwork shows them with brown fur. History[edit]

Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble![edit]

Ellie is spooked by a Sneek at the Murky Mill.
Ellie gets scared of a Sneek in Murky Mill

In Dixie Kong's Photo Album, a photograph of Sneek appears under the "Terrorfirma Tuff Guys" enemy class.

In the Game Boy Advance remake, Sneeks have the same sound effect as Neeks from Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. In the original game, Sneeks are sped up and higher-pitched.

Donkey Kong Land III[edit]

In Donkey Kong Land III, Sneeks appear in almost every level. Sneeks retain their behavior and patterns from Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! Unlike before, Ellie is no longer scared of Sneeks.
