Petey's Bomb Battle is a boss minigame that is set to appear in the upcoming Mario Party 10. The boss is Petey Piranha, as suggested by the name. The players are in a park. Petey Piranha is much bigger than the players and stands before them. The players' goal is to make Petey's HP drop to 0. There is a health bar similar to the one from Mario Party 9 that tells the HP. The players shoot at Petey in order to damage him and get a point per hit. Sometimes, Petey opens his mouth, absorbing all the shots fired in this period of time and sends them back to the shooters, making them lose 1 point per projectile they had shot. When Petey loses half of his health, he becomes angered (like other bosses from Mario Party 9) and opens his mouth much more frequently. The final shot (the one that takes down Petey) is worth a bonus of 5 points. After Petey is defeated, the result screen is shown with a sum of points, penalties and bonuses. The player with the most points wins. Petey falls down onto the floor before disapearing into white clouds after being defeated.

Petey's Bomb Battle is a boss minigame appearing in Mario Party 10. It takes place in Mushroom Park and pits players against Petey Piranha.

Introduction[edit]

The players are standing in a small plaza near a pool. Suddenly, Petey drops from the sky, only to slow his descent by flapping his leaves. He lands on a raised dais on the other end of the plaza and roars at the players, who pick up color-coded bombs as the minigame begins.

Gameplay[edit]

The players must deplete Petey's health by shooting bombs at him. Every successful hit gives the shooter a point. During the battle, Petey periodically opens his mouth—any shots fired at this point are swallowed harmlessly. After Petey closes his mouth, he spits any swallowed projectiles back to their shooters, making them lose one point per bomb. Petey telegraphs this defense by leaning forward as the players shoot him—at this point, it is best to cease fire and wait for him to close his mouth. After a successful counterattack, Petey may also dance for a moment, leaving him vulnerable to attack.

When Petey loses half of his health, he bites at the atmosphere, roars at the players again, and intensifies the battle. He opens his mouth much more frequently than before, and he also tries to fake players out by leaning forward repeatedly before actually opening his mouth. On top of this, any players who shoot bombs into Petey's mouth lose an extra point from a final bomb that Petey spits out after their "reflected" shots.

The final shot is worth a bonus of five points. Petey takes 130 hits before being defeated. The player with the most points wins. If five minutes pass and Petey has not been defeated, the minigame ends in a draw.

Ending[edit]

After gaining the last hit, Petey falls onto his back and then explodes.
