First appearance | Mario & Luigi: Brothership (2024) |
Reclusiffs are UFO-like enemies in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. They are found in the Soli-Tree, where they fly at Mario and Luigi if approached in the field. Reclusiffs are white with a single red antenna and purple saucer and have a screen for a face, showing blue and yellow eyes that flicker. Their names and appearances are based on Reclusa, in addition to being a corruption of the word "reclusive".
Battle
In battle, Reclusiffs are flying enemies, so some attacks will not reach them. Reclusiffs perform three attacks in battle:
- During one attack, Reclusiffs fly above the Bros. from left to right or vice versa three times, dropping electrical spheres. The speed of the Reclusiff varies. Mario and Luigi must use their hammers to destroy the energy spheres. After the third fly-by, the Reclusiff will malfunction and move offscreen, before reappearing on the opposite side and falling on a character. The Reclusiff must be counterattacked to avoid damage. If the Reclusiff flies to the left, it will reappear close to Mario. If it moves to the right, Luigi is the target. The slam can cause the Dizzy status effect.
- Reclusiffs can fly at Mario and Luigi and perform several vertical loops before stopping. During this attack, Reclusiffs might change their target. The Bros. must jump to avoid the attack. If the Reclusiff is countered, the attack immediately ends. The initial targeted character is determined by the way the Reclusiff flies before the attack; if it flies counterclockwise, Mario is the target, while clockwise means Luigi will be targeted.
- A Reclusiff can fly above another enemy and fire an energy sphere at them, healing them by 200 HP and boosting their POW by 20%. Reclusiffs can perform this move even on enemies with full HP, resulting in only the POW boost being administered to their ally.
Reclusiffs drop 138 coins, 980 EXP, and possibly an Ultra Mushroom when they are defeated.[1]
