Their pink snouts are large in relation to their body, and are gently surrounded by two small tusks protruding from within their mouths. The mouths are surrounded by small manes as well, and when open, they leave in sight rows of straight teeth, in spite of the sharp fangs. Their ears are pointed upwards, while their looks are always menacing and vengeful. Schnauztels' feet are small and support their mass with diffculty, as seen from these creatures' slow walk. Their name is a portmanteau of the German words "Schnauze" (snout) and "Schnitzel" (which is fried meat, referenced by the enemies' hog-like appearance, and possibly by their burning temper, described below).

Schnautzels attack by shooting rows of six fireballs out of their big nostrils, which can cause damage to the Kongs. They can be defeated by either stomping on them three times, rolling into them the same amount of times, or simply hurling a barrel onto them when possible; after the defeat, Schautzels will turn towards the camera, startling and having crazed looks in their eyes, before dissapearing in small clouds of dust. They inhabit the second world of the game: Autumn Heights.

*Schnautzels share their countenance and behavior with Gale Hawgs, enemies from Donkey Kong Jungle Beat. Aside from being wild boar-like enemies, they defend themselves by using their snouts as flame throwers, similarly to Schnautzels. Thus, the latter might have drawn inspiration from Gale Hawgs.

Schnautzels[1] are enemies in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and its Nintendo Switch port. These boar creatures are encountered in Windmill Hills and Horn Top Hop only. Their name is a pun mixing the German words Schnauze ("snout") and Schnitzel ("cutlet"), as well as the English word "snot". Schnautzels attack by shooting rows of six fireballs out of their nostrils. Schnautzels tread back and forth slowly between each attack while remaining focused on the Kongs, who can defeat a Schnautzel by either stomping or rolling into it three times, or by throwing a barrel at it. Schnautzels can be stunned with a Ground Pound, a state in which they lift their leg up and rotate their head dizzily. A Schnautzel briefly appears in the short introduction cutscene of Windmill Hill. A Cheesy Chester holds up a stick with some bananas on it in front of a Schnautzel, who then proceeds to burn the bananas.
