World 9-5 is the fifth level of World 9 in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. It is unlocked by collecting every Star Coin in World 5. Like all levels in World 9, there is no midway point. This level is an ice level where the player must get to the top of an icy mountain while avoiding Cooligans, Fuzzies, and Big Fuzzies.
Layout[edit]
Instead of the typical horizontal level, this level is vertical, and the player must constantly jump to move upwards through the level, similar to World 3-5. At the beginning of the level, the player must hit a ? Switch that activates a platform which allows the player to get onto the next platform. Towards the middle, there are various Fuzzies and Big Fuzzies moving on tracks. At the end, the player must jump on some bricks moving on tracks to reach the pole.
Star Coins[edit]
Image | Location |
---|---|
The first Star Coin is just above the third green Warp Pipe from which Cooligans emerge. Mario and co. must head towards the Warp Pipe, avoid any Cooligans, then jump up to the Star Coin. | |
The second Star Coin is in the area with the ? Switch, at the top-left. It can simply be jumped to. | |
A Penguin Suit or an Ice Flower is required for this Star Coin. Shortly after the Red Ring are two rail rides; one with a Fuzzy, a Big Fuzzy, and four bricks, the other with one Fuzzy. Mario and co. must get on one of the bricks, then use the Penguin Suit or Ice Flower to freeze the lone Fuzzy, then use it to jump up to the third Star Coin. |
