What was on the helicopter page again? Like, what gameplay role did either of the two helicopters play. The main reason I'm leaning towards keeping the page is because the ship is important in the story, considering there's a chase scene with it and the Black Skull, and the boss battle with Lord Crump takes place on it (which is what I mean by more info possibly being added here — image of how the stage looks during the fight, based off the ship). It would also be a bit weird imo for the two other ships in TTYD to have pages and not this, albeit those two are named and inherently play more of a role… but yeah, I may be open to changing my vote actually, I just want to be refreshed on the helicopter stuff a bit first. :It was just a Mario cameo where he takes Wario's statue. I just took it from the talk page and on this page to see how much of a role this place ship plays that it wasn't very much. {{User:Mario/sig}} 21:12, October 20, 2024 (EDT)

::Yeah, the article is missing some info. If this proposal decides to keep the page, I'll definitely add to it. Actually, there's a lot more missing than I initially thought...
::*The fact the Chapter 5 battle with Lord Crump takes place on it is not mentioned once - it's more than just maybe adding a picture or two
::*There's no mention of the ship attacking Keelhaul Key before the Black Skull gets involved, nor mention of how "Four Eyes" reveals his true identity as Crump while on it
::*There's no mention of the ship's attack being what prompts Mario and Flavio to seek out Cortez for help
::*There's not even a mention of the two ships chasing each other before the boss battle begins
::*Could also mention the ship simply sailing away afterwards, it's not destroyed
::I would add this info now but I worry that's against the spirit of a proposal like this... but wow, this article is majorly lacking when there is clearly more to say. I hope this makes its story significance more clear for my argument for keeping the page (albeit with the rename), at least. If it's conjecturally named..., do we need this article?--Knife (talk) 18:07, 18 December 2009 (EST)

Many articles are named with conjectured titles, yet we maintain them. But, considering the shortness of this example, we could probably merge it to either Lord Crump's or the X-Naut page (I favor the latter). Redstar 18:13, 18 December 2009 (EST)
Yes, but we only give articles to conjecturally named subjects if they have some significance, like an enemy in SML2. However, the ship used by the X-Nauts in one chapter doesn't seem to be notable, especially since Nintendo didn't give it an official name.--Knife (talk) 18:27, 18 December 2009 (EST)
My impression as well. If all relevant information is merged into either Lord Crump's or the X-Naut page, in either the story section or a new section, then I think this page could be deleted. Redstar 18:29, 18 December 2009 (EST)
Definitely. But, seeing as the ship belongs to Lord Crump, not the X-Nauts, I think it should be merged with Lord Crump. User:Dry Paratroopa/sig

Rename

This seems like an overly flashy name in my opinion. Even "X-Naut ship" would be better. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:33, December 28, 2023 (EST)

Replying to bring attention to this, given other TTYD page renames as of late. Technetium (talk) 10:07, September 3, 2024 (EDT)

Determine whether to rename or delete this page

A Yellow Block from Super Mario World This talk page section contains an unresolved talk page proposal. Please try to help and resolve the issue by voting or leaving a comment.

Though I really like the X-Ship name, it's probably not the best conjectural name. If anything, even though it's labeled as conjecture in the article itself, it feels official enough (as in, it matches the format of X-Fist and X-Punch) that I worry misinformation might have spread about X-Ship being its actual name. Even then, does this page need to exist to begin with? As discussed above on this talk page, there's hardly any information here, and what is here could easily be merged elsewhere. Note that if the page does get deleted, the ship would be mentioned elsewhere as "an X-Naut ship" or something along those lines, not X-Ship.

Feel free to use the comments to discuss other conjectural name ideas and where any information from here should go if the page gets deleted.

Rename to X-Naut ship

  1. Technetium (talk) As proposer. Yes, I did explain the argument for why it should be deleted, but that does not mean I agree with it. The reason is because deletion has been discussed in the past, and if I'm already making a proposal here, I might as well include deletion as an option. I personally think the X-Naut ship is story relevant enough, and I can even think of content to be added, such as how the battle with Lord Crump is on this ship (and a picture of the fight could be added, to show what the ship looks like on stage).
  2. Sparks (talk) Per Technetium.
  3. Pseudo (talk) Per proposal. It's very cute, but not a good conjectural title.
  4. Drake Inferno (talk) Per proposal. The current name is very good, but kind of creates the appearance of officiality or runs the risk of being misinterpreted. I could go either way on the page still being there to be honest, but I think a name change is needed for clarity's sake.
  5. Axii (talk) Per proposal.

Delete page

  1. EvieMaybe (talk) we don't really need to make a page for a nameless generic-ish ship. willing to change my mind if someone finds an internal name for it
  2. PrincessPeachFan (talk) Per EvieMaybe. It's a ship that doesn't even have a name.
  3. Mario (talk) Not seeing reasons provided for this article's existence and not Mario's helicopter, another dubiously named vehicle with no gameplay purpose and not much story telling purpose either.

Do nothing

  1. Axii (talk) Second option. The current name is fine.

Comments

Wanted to add something - so, in discussion above this proposal, others have considered it to be Lord Crump's ship and talked about possibly merging it with Lord Crump's article. My issue with a conjectural name like "Lord Crump's ship" is that even though Crump commands it, we don't know if he actually owns it, which is why I think it's better to just call it an X-Naut ship if we do rename the page (and whenever the ship is discussed on other pages if this page does get deleted). If anyone does have evidence for Crump explicitly owning it, feel free to reply to this. Technetium (talk) 15:24, October 16, 2024 (EDT)

Just to entertain you guys, what makes this article worth keeping and not my infamous helicopter or Luigi blimp from Mario Kart: Super Circuit.? Mario It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 01:24, October 18, 2024 (EDT)
