The Bowser Sphinx is the villain of Mystery Land in Mario Party 2. He can be recognized by being a Bowser wearing an Egyptian-style collar. At the end, the Bowser Sphinx will challenge a Koopa Troopa to a game of riddles in order to win the aliens' gold statue, (the aliens are actually Bob-ombs). The Koopa fails and is put into a rock. The winner of the game then challenges the Bowser Sphinx to another game of riddles. Mario incurring the Bowser Sphinx's wrath
First appearance Mario Party 7 (2005)

The Bowser Sphinx is a sentient monument in Mario Party 7. Its body is modeled after the Great Sphinx of Giza, while its head resembles Bowser's, wearing a nemes with pink and blue striped lappets and a Chain Chomp ornament. It has a treasure chest and large collection of Coins at its feet. The Bowser Sphinx is located at the center left of Pyramid Park, and features prominently on the icon of the board.

When a character lands on the Green Space in front of it, it awakens and assumes they are attempting to steal its treasure. In retaliation, it curses the player, resulting in one of three random effects occurring, all of which apply to all players:

 • All players' coins are added up, then distributed evenly.
 • All Blue Spaces become Red Spaces, and vice versa, for two turns.
 • All Chain Chomp rides cost half as many coins for two turns.

In Solo Cruise, the Green Space in front of the Bowser Sphinx is replaced by a green arrow similar that of an Orb hut, which does not count as a space and causes players to visit the Bowser Sphinx every time they pass by. At the beginning of the board in this mode, a Bandit steals a Star from the Bowser Sphinx at the beginning of the board, and the objective of the board is for one of the players to steal it in turn and return it to the Bowser Sphinx. While passing the Bowser Sphinx while holding the Star wins the board, passing it empty-handed will enrage it and cause it to cast one of its curses.

The Bowser Sphinx shares its name with Bowser's alter ego in Mystery Land in Mario Party 2. Additionally, its nemes is strikingly similar to Tutankoopa's.
