The NO LIMIT! Parade was an event held at Universal Studios Japan in Osaka which soft-premiered on February 27, 2023 and officially premiered on March 1, 2023, after two delays from mid-2022 and late-2022.[1] The parade ran once a day until April 6, 2024,[2] and featured characters from many licenses that the park holds, including Pokémon. It focused on the period of music from different decades.
A variation of the event, announced on April 23, 2024 and titled NO LIMIT! Summer Splash Parade, took place between July 3 and September 1, 2024 (with a soft-premiere on July 2, 2024),[3] in which the floats scattered water around to cool off guests.[4] The variation also featured the Super Mario-themed water shooter toys for guests first used in the Super Mario Power-Up Summer event, as well as the first Princess Daisy costumed character in the park.[4]
Mario Kart unit[edit]
The parade includes a Mario Kart-themed float that depicts several characters racing on Rainbow Road in the "Universal Cup". The parade marks the debut of Yoshi as a costumed character at the park.
The unit begins with three live performers riding hoverboards and wearing Green Shell, Red Shell and Spiny Shell-themed hats. They lead three smaller floats which feature costumed characters of Yoshi, Princess Peach and Luigi, all riding Standard Karts with Standard Tires in Anti-gravity mode. The Karts are riding on top of clouds, with the "Universal Cup" icon on the front, and covered in sculptures of various Mario Kart series items.
The main float is led by various live performers, mostly stiltwalkers, dressed up in costumes themed after the Koopalings and a Piranha Plant. The float's design is mainly based on the Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe version of SNES Rainbow Road. It features a costumed character of Mario driving at the front, while sculptures of Bowser and Toad trail behind. All of them ride Standard Karts with Standard tires while Bowser rides a Standard ATV with the Monster tires, but they all drive normally this time. As with the smaller floats, this float is decorated with various items from the franchise, while the front has checkered flags with the word "FINISH!" in front. The back has a large finish line with two disco balls on the left and right to match the parade's "dance" theme. Some confetti cannons are hidden away behind Bullet Bill sculptures which, at the end of every performance, shoot out colorful Super Mario-themed confetti and streamers at the audience.
In the NO LIMIT! Summer Splash Parade version, the Peach float is replaced by a Daisy float featuring a costumed character of Daisy; the Peach costumed character is moved behind the main Mario Kart float. Additionally, the performers on hoverboards are no longer present and the ones leading the main float now wear pit crew suits instead of Koopaling costumes. Two performers can also be seen carrying F.L.U.D.D. replicas. Water shooters attached to the main float were also added to be used by performers to spray water at the audience.[3]
