The Hoohooligans[1] are a species in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and its remake. There are an elliptical people who inhabit Hoohoo Village. Their body structure is reminiscent of a cactus and likely designed after upright beans; they also closely resemble the simple ancient Japanese sculptures known as Haniwa. Their name is a portmanteau of "hoohoo", an onomatopoeia for laughing, and "hooligan", a word for a rowdy person. The Hoohoo civilization, who are said to be ancient Hoohooligans, wrote jokes in pictographs called Hooroglyphs and constructed Hoohooros. An old Hoohooligan man runs the Mysterious Mine Carts minigame.

Hoohooligans do not make any other appearances, although the Hooskis in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team resemble brown Hoohooligans.
