Ah, thanks for letting me know! The reason I did it that way is because I thought they were supposed to go before something like, say, a comma, and extrapolated that to all punctuation. Is that still true for commas or semicolons or whatnot in the middle of a sentence?

Hello. When adding references, they should go after punctuation instead of before, and the following should be added at the bottom of the article (above the navigation templates and categories) if one isn't there already:
