Floor is a Gymnastics Event that exclusively appears in the Nintendo 3DS version of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games. The aim of the event is to score points by performing various moves. The starting record for this event is 16.050pt(s).

Gameplay[edit]

In this event, the player must perform a series of moves in time to the music to score points. A bar is shown along the bottom of the screen which indicates which moves the player needs to perform, with single circles indicating tap once, two connected circles indicating tap and hold and a zig zag shape indicating slide side to side on the touch screen, The player must input these commands when the shape is within the cursor on the left hand side of the screen to the beat of the music. Once the player has performed the move, their timing will be rated, with perfect given for perfect timing, great for slightly poorer, good for poorer again, bad for very poor timing and miss if the player failed to input the command. The amount of points awarded depends on the timing, with a bonus being given based on the average accuracy after each segment, which is shown at the top of the screen. The moves are split up into three separate segments, with the accuracy and bonus being displayed after each in the short break between the two sets of moves. The size of the bonus added to the total score depends on the player's average accuracy, with a higher average giving a larger bonus, and lower averages giving out a miss instead of a bonus. The player's score is shown throughout the event, with the highest score at the end of the event winning.

Controls[edit]

1) Performance 1: Touch the Touch Screen.
2) Performance 2: Touch and hold, then release.
3) Performance 3: Rapidly slide ⇔ on the Touch Screen.

Medley Match[edit]

In Medley Match mode, Rings appears as the fourth event of the Gymnastics Medley and the first event of the Rock That Rhythm Medley.

Story Mode[edit]

In the game's story mode, Floor appears as the third part of the second challenge of Challengers Episode 3, Enter Bowser?!, in which Silver must beat Bowser Jr. in it, along with Trampoline and Basketball. It also appears as the first challenge of Challengers Bonus 1, Junior Hits England, in which Bowser Jr. must beat Yoshi in the event.
