Description(s)
Keeps you from being hit by a First Strike. (Paper Mario)
Never succumb to a First Strike. (Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door)

Chill Out is a badge in Paper Mario and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. In Paper Mario, it can be bought from Merlow at Shooting Star Summit for three Star Pieces, and in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, it can be bought from Dazzle in the Rogueport Underground for two Star Pieces. It can be sold for 37 coins. If the badge is equipped by Mario, he is immune to being hit by a First Strike, which happens when an enemy attacks Mario in the field and causes them to hit Mario in battle before he gets a turn. Any enemy coming into contact with Mario is treated as if they did not attack.

Merluvlee's prediction in Paper Mario

  • "I see...a Chill Out Badge. There is a child upstairs in the fortune-teller's house on Shooting Star Summit. Hey! I'm that fortune-teller! Anyway, the child is my brother, Merlow. He will trade Star Pieces for Badges. Head upstairs to see him!"
