I want to point out that we don't call TTYD's bestiary "Tattle Log" and restrict it to the information it displays in-game. Comment about how this is handled[edit]
I want to point out that we don't call TTYD's bestiary "Tattle Log" and restrict it to the information it displays in-game. Calling this "Monster List" and restricting to that is doing the same thing. We should include other information (once someone compiles all the internal stats, at least) and move this to a more consistent title. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 10:33, November 24, 2023 (EST)
- Just one thing, is there a particular reason we refer to the list as a bestiary and not a tattle log? I noticed this page with a question from 2007 about this and hasn't been adequately addressed ("No, because it also lists the stats for the enemy." So, like, it's because we list additional stats that the game itself doesn't?) Is it just for consistency since most enemy lists don't even have a specific name for them? Wouldn't more people search for "tattle log"? How was "bestiary" coined anyway? It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 21:52, November 24, 2023 (EST)
- Presumably because there's so much information it glosses over in-game. The information we list is more than a log of the tattles/"proper" descriptions like it is in-game for TTYD. "Bestiary" is just a standard term for a monster compendium, though it may be a bit more fanciful than needed. (I see this as similar to how we moved the category for "Barnacled Bosses" to "Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest bosses" for consistency, specificity, and ease of understanding.) - This is coming off my "sound test" proposal since it was a similar case, but I agree on renaming this page to the "(game) bestiary" title for consistency, but also to open up to more, non-in-game information to be added if any. Mario JC 10:49, June 24, 2024 (EDT)
