The [[Octolot]]s and [[Octovader]]s from ''[[Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars]]'' might be designed as a reference to Octoroks. Octoroks were also briefly parodied in ''[[Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga]]'', which featured an almost identical species of monsters known as the [[Chuckorok]]s. Additionally, Octoroks, like several other generic ''Zelda'' enemies, had an enemy based on them in ''[[Super Paper Mario]]''. In this case, Octoroks were parodied by [[Squiglet]]s, [[Squig]]s, [[Squog]]s, [[Squoinker]]s, and [[Dark Squiglet]]s. Most [[Octoomba]] variants and [[King Kaliente]] from ''[[Super Mario Galaxy]]'' and its sequel may be inspired from Octoroks due to similarity in their appearance and the fact that they spit objects much like Octoroks do.
