The '''[[Main Page|main page]]''' has four dynamic sections that present visitors to the website with rotating and up-to-date information. Instead of editing the main page itself, we modify these sections using ''templates''.
The new '''[[Main Page]]''' design now has dynamic sections with the raw text in templates. Certain rules are required for updating each template and are listed here – most sections will update based on when information is available.

There are 7 templates in all; the 5 that need to be updated are in their own sections.

The main page has four dynamic sections that present visitors to the website with rotating and up-to-date information. Instead of editing the main page itself, we modify these sections using templates.

Certain rules are required for updating each of these templates, which are explained in the section below. Anyone is free to update these templates when necessary. The {{poll}} template is not listed on this page, as new polls are coordinated by the current Poll Committee.

Finally, it is recommended that all templates with bullet points for info should contain around ¾-1½ lines per bullet point.

{{Featured}}

Featured articles are to be rotated every Saturday. This template should contain the first 4-6 sentences of information from the current featured article, converted to a single paragraph. A thumbnail of the article's main image should also be displayed. The current featured article as well as the schedule for when the next three featured articles should be displayed are shown below, and can be changed here.

Main page rotation (within the next 3 weeks)

For the complete list of featured articles for rotation, go here. Also, articles which most recently became a featured article are to take precedence, before following the regular rotation down the featured list.

{{DidYouKnow}}

The DidYouKnow template is to be updated every Saturday.

This is the hardest template to update – it consists of four interesting facts, derived from any area within our coverage. These facts should be from a variety of series (i.e. not every fact should be from the Donkey Kong Country series or Super Smash Bros. series). Additionally, the new article should not be about a subject from an unreleased game, as these articles are filled with speculation.

The first bullet point should be accompanied with an image, no bigger than 150px thumbnailed. Please link and bold the character or game relating to the subject of each bullet, so guests and users alike are prompted to see more information in the article itself.

{{News}}

This is the template that shows Mario and Nintendo news. This includes games, Nintendo consoles and other Super Mario-related media. In four bullet points, the info should be about a mix of the following:

  • New announcements of upcoming media.
  • Release dates.
  • Announcements that a game or other form of media has just been released.
  • Relevant promotional events or developments.

Whenever a worthy piece of news is revealed, it should be placed at the top of the list. The last bullet (containing the oldest piece of news) should then be removed.

The first bullet point of info should be accompanied with an image, no bigger than 150px within a thumbnail. Please link and bold the character or game relating to the subject of each bullet, so guests and users alike are prompted to see more information in the article itself.
