Mission
Tox Box Switch Star
The Star Switch of Shifting Sand Land in Super Mario 64 DS
Location Shifting Sand Land
Mission # 5
Game Super Mario 64 DS
<< Directory of missions >>

Tox Box Switch Star is the fifth mission of Shifting Sand Land, exclusive to Super Mario 64 DS. In the original game, Free Flying for 8 Red Coins was the fifth mission, but it was moved to the seventh mission of the course in the DS version. This mission requires Wario to be unlocked.

Layout[edit]

The player needs to make it to the northeastern corner of the course, where the cannon is. There is a Black Brick that only Wario can destroy, and underneath it is the Star Switch. Pressing the switch causes the Power Star to appear in the Star Sphere in the oasis, on the opposite end of the course. Wario can then long-jump across the paths to reach it. Punching away the Tox Boxes beforehand can make this easier. Alternatively, the player can make use of a nearby warp to bring them close to the Star Sphere. The player can also switch to Mario and shoot out of the cannon, using the Wings to fly to the Star Sphere after breaking the Black Brick with Wario. Breaking the Star Sphere rewards the player with the Power Star.
