== Italics ==

Hello! When writing game titles, they should be italicized, which is achieved by placing two apostrophes on either side of the title. For example <code><nowiki>''[[Mario Party 8]]''</nowiki></code> creates ''[[Mario Party 8]]''. Thanks! --{{User:TheFlameChomp/sig}} 10:49, 5 October 2018 (EDT)

{{reminder|2=forgetting italics}}
I'm sure you haven't forgotten that you're already on a warning for edit warring, yet you're still doing it. And you only seem to accept your edits being reverted if it's done by an admin. The admins are not the ones who make every decision you know. And threatening me with a warning is just going over the top. Please start acting like an adult. :I think we're going to need something a bit more solid for your point on Gooigi. Of course he and the Inklings are going to share features, they are both made out of goop-like substances. You can say the same about any other goop-like creature. It's not really worth noting characters are alike between different franchises as the connection usually ends up being coincidental. If there's a source saying how Inklings helped influence Gooigi, that'd be something (carrying weapons outside of a hub world isn't a trait, btw).
:Also yes, echoing what Keyblade Master said, admins do not have to make every decision. If you think your edit should stay, discuss it rather than constantly changing the page information. {{User:Alex95/sig}} 11:15, June 20, 2020 (EDT)

{{last warning}}
Nope, you ''were'' reminded several times about this specifically yet you keep making a habit of [[Special:Diff/2965817|forcing the same edit a second time]] with nothing to back it up other than "it's a good/useful piece of info". "Keep my edit there and let an admin deal with this" is ''not'' how it works, and threatening a warning to someone like that is not acceptable. Learn to co-operate and talk it out with the user ''first'' or you're getting blocked. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 01:58, June 21, 2020 (EDT)

== Writing ==
Honestly, I seriously doubt you would be a bureaucrat by now even if I didn't revert any of your edits, 'cause there are others who have been doing so too. If you want to get promoted, you just need to be a lot more mature and properly follow the wiki's rules. Not to mention that it would take years and years of being this way to be promoted. You don't join a Wiki just so you can become part of the staff, you join to contribute.

Hey, please avoid [https://www.mariowiki.com/index.php?title=Virtual_Console&type=revision&diff=2547985&oldid=2540721 this] style of informal, unencyclopedic style of writing on the wiki. When you write, it must be kept formal and informative (basically, you don't want to sound like you're casually talking to the reader, e.g. "Nintendo knows you're sneaky [...]"). Please also remember that we don't write in first- or second-person, so avoid using the word "you", and use "the player" or the character's name where necessary, or any other substitute that's suitable within the context. See [[MarioWiki:Good writing]] for more information on the style of writing we expect when editing on articles. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 22:43, 19 November 2018 (EST)
And thank you Doc von for backing me up, 'cause you have no right to pin the blame on me like that. [[User:Keyblade Master|Keyblade Master]] ([[User talk:Keyblade Master|talk]]) 05:40, June 21, 2020 (EDT)

This includes colloquialisms, like "kind of", as well. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 19:00, 5 December 2018 (EST)
Warnings do not kill any chances of promotion. If you don't want to edit, just leave. Forcing onto yourself a way to lock yourself out (when simply leaving achieves the same goal) is just something you're going to regret later on if ever you decide to come back. You still have another chance; I suggest making use of it rather than throwing it away. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 06:58, June 21, 2020 (EDT)

==Rewrite template==
:Excuse me for getting in on the discussion, but I am seriously worried of this guy's mental state (especially since he is asking for promotion but still disruptive on the wiki & asking to be banned), because his actions tell me that he is not doing too well. As someone who has had several mental issues over the years, I know what it's like, so perhaps we could deal with the situation as if he had mental issues. == RE:Why I do this ==

Hi, just letting you know that in article prose, no "you"s are allowed; just use "the player" or the character's name, or in [[Special:Diff/2613890|this case]], substitute "that you cannot play" with "that cannot be played". Thanks! {{User:Toadette the Achiever/sig}} 23:57, 2 March 2019 (EST)
Mario jc's not going to come online for a while, so I'll give you an answer for now and he can expand on it later.

== Editing reminders ==
Reverting edits just to give people warnings would result in a warning itself. Your edits have been consistently low-quality, which is why they are being reverted. We are trying to help you understand how to improve, but accusing Keyblade and Doc of bad faith is not the way to go about it. You have a last warning because you've already received a regular warning for the same subject, so it's the next step up. Warnings can expire, kind of, they have to be overturned, which is done if the admins think the warning was unnecessary. Your talk page is a record of your history, so it shouldn't be removed just because you don't like it. You are supposed to learn from it. Admin reminders can only be overturned by another admin, but they are given out because there is a problem, so the warning will usually stand.

Reminders/warnings are serious matters and not meant to be messed around with, so please stop doing that. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 21:47, March 27, 2019 (EDT)
If you want to improve, then improve. Don't blame others for your mistakes and try to sweep them under the rug. {{User:Alex95/sig}} 11:16, June 24, 2020 (EDT)

:This also means using them on your sandbox or userpage, or creating custom/fake warnings. Please read the rules on [[MarioWiki:Userspace#What_should_I_avoid.3F|MarioWiki:Userspace]]. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 01:46, April 9, 2019 (EDT)
I don't want to conflict with you, but like Alex95 said, I reverted them because they were low-quality, and you just won't accept it. Conflicting with us is literally the exact thing that is getting you into trouble, and we do provide good reasons in our edit summaries too. {{User:Keyblade Master/sig}}

== Grabyla is back ==
I ought to be offended to some level, but honestly I am only amused. Things like "Despite his name, Donkey Kong more closely resembles an ape than a donkey" are excruciatingly obvious and examples of bad writing. If you'd done research into this, by say, looking at the creation section, you'd know that "Donkey" was a cheap translation for "stubborn" that sounded catchy enough to keep. [[User:Doc von Schmeltwick|Doc von Schmeltwick]] ([[User talk:Doc von Schmeltwick|talk]]) 12:22, June 24, 2020 (EDT)

Did you create an account named {{user|Grabyla is back}}? Creating multiple accounts is not allowed, so if it belongs to you, since you still have access to this account (Bowser201), the new one will be blocked from access. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 03:30, March 31, 2019 (EDT)
::Alex, I believe you, but just to verify, I want an admin to take care of it.

<s>Here's what my son said:
::And Keyblade/Doc, please add a better edit summary if you do must undo non-vandalism edits. {{User:Bowser201/sig}} 12:47, June 24, 2020 (EDT)

It was my friend. He came over for a playdate and I introduced him to this wiki. He looked at [[Special:BlockList|the block list]] and chose the username Grabyla is back, because the oldest known infinitely blocked user was Grablya (he misplaced the y and the l). He is one of my neighbors and we share IPs so Grabyla is back is not a sockpuppet of mine, in fact, he never edited it.[[User:Bowser201|Bowser]][[User talk:Bowser201|201]]</s>
:::Actually, you're the one who needs to put better edit summaries, we have been giving good ones. You're probably just not reading them or paying attention to them just because we're not admins. And if you only want admins to take care of your edits, that is just going to lead to more edit warring which will eventually get you blocked. {{User:Keyblade Master/sig}}
::::To be fair my DK one was just "Uh duh," but I can assure you it's near-verbatim what Glowsquid (an actual bureaucrat) would put. [[User:Doc von Schmeltwick|Doc von Schmeltwick]] ([[User talk:Doc von Schmeltwick|talk]]) 12:58, June 24, 2020 (EDT)

It was not a sockpuppet. I just wondered how an admin would react to a user that was blocked 13 years ago and returned. {{unsigned|Bowser201}}

== Moving files ==
:"Alex, I believe you, but just to verify, I want an admin to take care of it."
:I am an admin. You don't only need admin verification for your edits, you are fully capable of listening to others and conversing with them when your edit is called into question.
:"Keyblade, stop harassing me. And Doc, please write better."
:I don't understand this statement. No one is harassing you, and Doc is explaining herself. The response of "Uhhh...duh?" means the information is [[MarioWiki:Good_writing#Captain_Obvious|blatantly obvious and doesn't need to be there]].
:Continue this line of thinking and you will be blocked for it, because you are doing the exact opposite of what you are trying to do. Your edits are becoming detrimental and you are blaming others for them and assuming the admins will agree with you over them. Making mistakes is fine, as long as you own up to them and work to improve. {{User:Alex95/sig}} 14:13, June 24, 2020 (EDT)

== Show preview ==
I noticed some of the edits you made on the Nintendo DS, 3DS, and Switch pages which, in my eyes, promoted quite a few inaccuracies.

Before hitting "'''Save page'''", use the "Show preview" next to it to see what the edit looks like. This lets you find and fix any mistakes before publishing the edit. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 02:44, March 13, 2020 (EDT)
This site seems to have a history of getting the Nintendo DS > Nintendo 3DS succession wrong, promoting the idea that they went from the DS > DSi > and then 3DS, as if the DSi were its own separate entity; its own family of systems.
:Thanks for letting me know. Wilol do next time. [[User:Bowser201|Bowser]][[User talk:Bowser201|201]] 03:07, March 13, 2020 (EDT)

== IP editing ==
It wasn't.

That's something you should ask {{user|Porplemontage}}. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 21:15, April 27, 2020 (EDT)
The DS family includes: DS, DS Lite, DSi, and the DSi XL
:Thanks. I saw IPs mainly vandalize.

== RE: OMG ==
It is true that the DSi had a few minor exclusive games, but nothing that major to warrant it being its own separate platform. It was merely another revision of the original Nintendo DS. Nintendo has always considered it part of the DS family, to the point that they lump all four devices as a single unit in their sales figures and even went so far as to outright clarify this during their E3 2010 presentation during the introduction of the 3DS itself.

Sorry for asking you that question, but thanks. {{User:Bowser201/sig}} 22:11, May 3, 2020 (EDT)
"…because, of course, Nintendo 3DS is the successor to Nintendo DS." Former president Satoru Iwata didn't say DSi, he said DS.

Also, before you sign, you need to create a [[User:Bowser201/sig|signature page]] first with the code (<code><nowiki>[[File:BowserNSMBUDX.png|25px|link=Bowser]] [[User talk:Bowser201|201]]</nowiki></code>), then go to your [[Special:Preferences|preferences]] and type <nowiki>{{User:Bowser201/sig}}</nowiki> in the "New signature" field (with "Treat signature as wikitext" checked). {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 22:13, May 3, 2020 (EDT)
The same goes with the Nintendo 3DS.

Fixed that. {{User:Bowser201/sig}} 22:16, May 3, 2020 (EDT)
The Nintendo 3DS is an entire family of consoles that includes: 3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS, "New" 3DS, "New" 3DS XL, and the "New" 2DS XL. (I know, kind of a mess)

==Red link==
The "New" models are still part of the overall 3DS family, as while they contain slight bumps in processing speed they were nothing more than just some simple overclocking with them doubling the RAM in the process. They were still, overall, part of the same platform.
Red links are not an issue on userpages. The policy is referring to users' comments on talk pages, where red links in proposals should be changed to {{tem|fake link}}. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 06:25, May 4, 2020 (EDT)

Will do. {{User:Bowser201/sig}}
Calling the Nintendo Switch Lite specifically a "successor" to the 3DS family is silly, because the Switch Lite is, similar to the scenarios above, just another member of the Nintendo Switch family. It is more accurate to simply state that the entire Switch family of devices has succeeded the 3DS family of devices, especially because the original Switch essentially bridged the gap between the handhelds and home consoles and merged the two ideas into one.

== RE: Attacky Sack accounts ==
Was the Switch a successor to the Wii U? Absolutely. Was it a successor to the 3DS? The answer is also yes.

The accounts are from varying IPs but they're most definitely the same person using multiple IPs or a dynamic IP to create them. We're always user-checking and will do something if that were the case so don't worry about it. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 06:19, May 6, 2020 (EDT)

==Proposal extension==

For future reference, you cannot extend a proposal deadline unless a tie has been reached between multiple voting options, or there is not a strong consensus in proposals with more than two options- if this happens, the extension is only added ''after'' the initial run of the proposal and is only extended by one week at any given time. Additionally, changes can only be made to a talk page proposal within six days of it first being posted. If you'd like to change your proposal or try it again, you'll either have to wait four weeks after this one fails or come at it with a significantly different angle to try to convince more voters. Cool it with the reminders please. I've already explained [[User talk:ErrorFixinger|this case]], but regarding [[User talk:Mr. Video Game|this]], rather than issue a reminder off the bat, ask the user why they did it first. They likely made a mistake, meant to amend the caption or something else, but basically avoid issuing a reminder as someone does something wrong (''especially'' for the first time it happens); at the very least, leave an informal reminder first and explain what they did wrong. You've likely read the policy so you should know that issuing undeserved reminders earns yourself a warning as well. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 22:25, May 10, 2020 (EDT)
:"If it's the user's first time creating that particular problem, give them the default template. In general, minor issues get reminders". That was minor. What is wrong about just giving them a ''reminder''? {{User:Bowser201/sig}} 22:34, May 10, 2020 (EDT)

== Koopaling artwork ==

I feel I need to explain this to you personally, but the reason the Koopaling's artworks have been changed is because they have traits that are only in New Super Mario Bros. U, the game the artwork is for. Any artwork with traits only for a specific game or series are not meant to be used for infoboxes, whereas the artwork for New Super Mario Bros. Wii is more consistent with other appearences. Ludwig, Iggy and Larry are fine with keeping their NSMBU artwork for infoboxes, but Wendy, Lemmy, Morton and Roy, as well as their group artwork, are better off with their NSMBW artwork. [[User:Mario Sakuraba|Mario Sakuraba]] ([[User talk:Mario Sakuraba|talk]]) 09:30, May 14, 2020 (EDT)

I never owned a Wii seeing through its lack of advantages compared to the PS3 and Xbox 360. I bought a Wii U at launch day but bought ''NSMBU'' instead of ''NSMBW'' because the copies of the Wii game were sold out, so I prefer U over Wii. Anyways, though, look at [[Toad]]. He is shown in his modern art with a red cap despite having a blue cap in other Super Mario games. Also, don't forget to italicize. {{User:Bowser201/sig}} 09:38, May 14, 2020 (EDT)

Toad only has a blue cap in Super Mario 3D World, and it seems to me you were changing them over personal bias. I'd like to have King Boo's design from Luigi's Mansion in his infobox, but because it's only used for one series, we can't. And it doesn't matter if I don't itacilise in the talk page. Two completely different ways. Also, you need to stop edit warring if your edits get reverted because it will flood recent changes and you'll get in trouble. If you feel your edit should be put back, set up a talk page and discuss it with others. Lastly, admins don't have to decide everything. :::::::Mario Sakuraba already stated their reason, that is when you give yours or come to an agreement. Stubbornly demanding for admin intervention isn't the solution when you're capable of handling the matter yourself first. That said, what he said is correct: Hellen shows her true appearance before the battle, ergo this is not the same case as Ug. The difference is clear as day. If you even need to question it with "Does this even count?" then why add it? Also, "true appearance" seems to refer to different things here anyway: in Ug's (and afaik the other bosses') case, it's the ghost itself possessing the object; in Hellen's, it's literally just her true look.

We don't use Wikipedia as a source or where to gather information from because like this website, anyone can edit it and even there things are sourced from other websites. And please provide good reasons other than "read Wikipedia" when reverting my edits 'cause maybe then I'd consider keeping it the way it is. You're still at it[edit]

Keyblade Master (talk) 10:38, June 20, 2020 (EDT)

I think we're going to need something a bit more solid for your point on Gooigi.
Also yes, echoing what Keyblade Master said, admins do not have to make every decision. If you think your edit should stay, discuss it rather than constantly changing the page information. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 11:15, June 20, 2020 (EDT)
Lastwarn.svg This is your last warning. The next time you break the rules in any way, you will be blocked from editing the Super Mario Wiki.
If you feel this last warning was undeserved, you may appeal it.

Nope, you were reminded several times about this specifically yet you keep making a habit of forcing the same edit a second time with nothing to back it up other than "it's a good/useful piece of info". "Keep my edit there and let an admin deal with this" is not how it works, and threatening a warning to someone like that is not acceptable. Learn to co-operate and talk it out with the user first or you're getting blocked. Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 01:58, June 21, 2020 (EDT)

By the by, blaming everyone else when you display problematic behavior isn't going to get you in any less hot water. But quite frankly, that should be obvious. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 04:10, June 21, 2020 (EDT)

And thank you Doc von for backing me up, 'cause you have no right to pin the blame on me like that. Keyblade Master (talk) 05:40, June 21, 2020 (EDT)

Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 06:58, June 21, 2020 (EDT)

Excuse me for getting in on the discussion, but I am seriously worried of this guy's mental state (especially since he is asking for promotion but still disruptive on the wiki & asking to be banned), because his actions tell me that he is not doing too well. As someone who has had several mental issues over the years, I know what it's like, so perhaps we could deal with the situation as if he had mental issues. Results May Vary (talk) 19:32, June 21, 2020 (EDT)
All he needs to do is listen to directions. If he is not capable of doing that, then there is only one way this is going to go. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 23:01, June 21, 2020 (EDT)

RE:Why I do this[edit]

Mario jc's not going to come online for a while, so I'll give you an answer for now and he can expand on it later.

If you want to improve, then improve. Don't blame others for your mistakes and try to sweep them under the rug. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 11:16, June 24, 2020 (EDT)

I don't want to conflict with you, but like Alex95 said, I reverted them because they were low-quality, and you just won't accept it. Conflicting with us is literally the exact thing that is getting you into trouble, and we do provide good reasons in our edit summaries too. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 12:22, June 24, 2020 (EDT)

Alex, I believe you, but just to verify, I want an admin to take care of it.
And Keyblade/Doc, please add a better edit summary if you do must undo non-vandalism edits. OctolingRendezvous.png Octoling Rendezvous 12:47, June 24, 2020 (EDT)
Actually, you're the one who needs to put better edit summaries, we have been giving good ones. You're probably just not reading them or paying attention to them just because we're not admins. And if you only want admins to take care of your edits, that is just going to lead to more edit warring which will eventually get you blocked. Mario jumping Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8
To be fair my DK one was just "Uh duh," but I can assure you it's near-verbatim what Glowsquid (an actual bureaucrat) would put. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 12:58, June 24, 2020 (EDT)
Keyblade, stop harassing me. And Doc, please write better. OctolingRendezvous.png Octoling Rendezvous 13:08, June 24, 2020 (EDT)

I’m NOT harassing you, I’m trying to be resonable. Mario jumping Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8

Keyblade Master is definitely not harassing you. And repeating what others have said, you just need to listen to other users.Duckfan77 (talk) 13:30, June 24, 2020 (EDT)

"Alex, I believe you, but just to verify, I want an admin to take care of it."
I am an admin. You don't only need admin verification for your edits, you are fully capable of listening to others and conversing with them when your edit is called into question.
"Keyblade, stop harassing me. And Doc, please write better."
I don't understand this statement. No one is harassing you, and Doc is explaining herself. The response of "Uhhh...duh?" means the information is blatantly obvious and doesn't need to be there.
Continue this line of thinking and you will be blocked for it, because you are doing the exact opposite of what you are trying to do. Your edits are becoming detrimental and you are blaming others for them and assuming the admins will agree with you over them. Making mistakes is fine, as long as you own up to them and work to improve. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 14:13, June 24, 2020 (EDT)

Re:Warning[edit]

Giving me a warning like that and threatening a block you cannot do yourself is still just low. Usually, admins discuss between them if warnings are necessary. Mario jumping Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8

I removed it though. OctolingRendezvous.png Octoling Rendezvous 09:36, July 10, 2020 (EDT)
I still needed to tell you this, since you cannot just give warnings out of the blue like that in the first place. It's the sort of thing that should really be left to the admins to decide and worry about. Mario jumping Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8

Nintendo Handhelds[edit]

I noticed some of the edits you made on the Nintendo DS, 3DS, and Switch pages which, in my eyes, promoted quite a few inaccuracies.

This site seems to have a history of getting the Nintendo DS > Nintendo 3DS succession wrong, promoting the idea that they went from the DS > DSi > and then 3DS, as if the DSi were its own separate entity; its own family of systems.

It wasn't.

The DS family includes: DS, DS Lite, DSi, and the DSi XL

It is true that the DSi had a few minor exclusive games, but nothing that major to warrant it being its own separate platform. It was merely another revision of the original Nintendo DS. Nintendo has always considered it part of the DS family, to the point that they lump all four devices as a single unit in their sales figures and even went so far as to outright clarify this during their E3 2010 presentation during the introduction of the 3DS itself.

https://youtu.be/CwtQ1QGs0bg?t=3316

"…because, of course, Nintendo 3DS is the successor to Nintendo DS." Former president Satoru Iwata didn't say DSi, he said DS.

The same goes with the Nintendo 3DS.

The Nintendo 3DS is an entire family of consoles that includes: 3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS, "New" 3DS, "New" 3DS XL, and the "New" 2DS XL. (I know, kind of a mess)

The "New" models are still part of the overall 3DS family, as while they contain slight bumps in processing speed they were nothing more than just some simple overclocking with them doubling the RAM in the process. They were still, overall, part of the same platform.

Was the Switch a successor to the Wii U? Absolutely. Was it a successor to the 3DS? The answer is also yes.

Proposal extension[edit]

For future reference, you cannot extend a proposal deadline unless a tie has been reached between multiple voting options, or there is not a strong consensus in proposals with more than two options- if this happens, the extension is only added after the initial run of the proposal and is only extended by one week at any given time. Additionally, changes can only be made to a talk page proposal within six days of it first being posted. If you'd like to change your proposal or try it again, you'll either have to wait four weeks after this one fails or come at it with a significantly different angle to try to convince more voters. BBQ Turtle (talk) 09:44, August 16, 2020 (EDT)

The Rules page didn't say so so I assumed it was okay. Thanks for the heads-up! OctolingRendezvous.png Octoling Rendezvous 09:52, August 16, 2020 (EDT)
If something isn't explicitly stated on a rule page, it's generally better to err on the side of caution and at least check rather than just ploughing ahead with it. BBQ Turtle (talk) 09:59, August 16, 2020 (EDT)
