The English [https://archive.ph/IMSwG Mario] [https://archive.ph/2UaOd Portal] site gives the name "Pulse Beam" for Ring Beamer, different from English ''Encyclopedia'' (which was "Ring Beam"). Seems like this should be an easy move since the current source is internal data. However, the problem is that pulse beam is ''also'' the name of a different offshoot from ''Super Mario Odyssey''. How do we go about this? Move both articles but give the ''Super Mario Odyssey'' one the identifier since it's only in one game? Refer to both with their internal names and turn Pulse Beam into a disambig? Or do something else? :According to at least one of the Japanese guidebooks (check the third sample page [https://store.kadokawa.co.jp/shop/g/g321709000258/ here]), the ones in ''Odyssey'' are also called "リングビーマー" (Ring Beamer). It seems like they're meant to be the same thing; perhaps a merge is in order. This is basically the proposal version of the above, codying which action to take. To recap, "Ring Beamer" was the internal/Japanese name of this enemy, which was unnamed in older English material. ''Super Mario Odyssey'' material uses the same Japanese name while providing an English name, Pulse Beam. Mario Portal retroactively applied Pulse Beam to the ''Super Mario Galaxy'' and ''Super Mario Galaxy 2'' version. ''Encyclopedia'' detour aside, this seems pretty clear, though the ''Odyssey'' version gives some different interaction via Cappy. | |||

New/Old name
The English Mario Portal site gives the name "Pulse Beam" for Ring Beamer, different from English Encyclopedia (which was "Ring Beam"). Seems like this should be an easy move since the current source is internal data. However, the problem is that pulse beam is also the name of a different offshoot from Super Mario Odyssey. How do we go about this? Move both articles but give the Super Mario Odyssey one the identifier since it's only in one game? Refer to both with their internal names and turn Pulse Beam into a disambig? Or do something else? LinkTheLefty (talk) 00:26, August 14, 2022 (EDT)

- Interesting. This would explain what happened there. I'd be in favor of that, then. LinkTheLefty (talk) 22:13, August 14, 2022 (EDT)

Merge Ring Beamer with Pulse Beam
- LinkTheLefty (talk) I side with this, especially since we now have two templates working against it.
