It's a Me, Marino13! A fellow contributor to the Super Mario Wiki. My goal is to add in any info or correct any mistakes regarding the Super Mario Bros. series and the greater Mario series.

Among my notable favorite characters is obviously Mario. But I also like Luigi, Wario, Boo, Goomba, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Peach, Toad, and practically any other character as viewed in my character gallery below. Growing up with Super Mario, I was entertained in the era when the Super NES was coming to an end, and the N64 was just a brand new system with colorful 3D graphics. Super Mario 64 came out in Fall 1996 and it would change the lives of several gamers that continues to the present day. To go with that mixture, there are also other great games to go with it such as Mario Kart 64, Mario Tennis 64, Luigi's Mansion, Mario Party, Donkey Kong Country 1-3, Donkey Kong 64, and even newer games like Super Mario Galaxy, New Super Mario Bros. U, Super Mario 3D Land, and Super Mario Maker.

On a sad note, if you've been following the news, effective August 21, 2023, Charles Martinet (the voice of Mario and others) has retired from his longtime role and been promoted to "Mario Ambassador" for Nintendo. That means The Super Mario Bros. Movie is the last time you hear Martinet's voice in any capacity for the series.

A Tribute to Mario sites of years past

Before the Super Mario Wiki came to be, these were some websites of Mario related content that many people (myself included) would visit to get their up to date info on all things Super Mario Bros. These websites featured most of the content that the common encyclopedia (or fandom wiki) would contain today.

  • Mario Mania
  • Super Mario Bros. HQ
  • Super Mario Monster Compendium
  • The Mushroom Kingdom (kind of running as of now)

The Super Mario Bros. Movie

On April 1, 2023 (this is no joke I promise), the film had its premiere in sunny Los Angeles, California, to big cheers! If there is any user on this wiki who was able to attend the premiere in person, consider yourself lucky. Chris Pratt and Charlie Day both wore corresponding suits color coded to their characters, Mario and Luigi.

In a video clip promoting the movie, a SMB Plumbing van was driven by Chris Pratt at the film’s premiere on April 1, 2023. Humorously, one of the license plates fell off the van when it made a sharp turn, while it was headed towards the red carpet premiere. Wow, things got interesting when that happened. No matter, the “Mario Bros.” were able to make it to the premiere in one piece and pose for pictures and sign autographs!

Movie Log Entry: April 5, 2023. I saw the Super Mario Movie. I was impressed. I knew it was gonna be good (who cares what those biased "movie critics" say) and did they deliver. One thing I liked was the movie reintroduced some old characters such as Foreman Spike and brought them to new generations. And let’s say the power ups in the movie were fun too. The great lengths they went to make this movie happen is astounding; they literally make every reference to the Mario (and Donkey Kong) games from the music to the sounds and themes of each character that is associated with it. I also have to point out the Yoshis that appear in only one scene in the entire movie can be seen running in the background, uncannily similar to their introduction in Super Smash Bros. Melee. That final battle with Bowser was probably the best boss battle I’ve seen in a Mario game in forever, and having it take place in an area I wouldn’t even expect it to happen, great move Nintendo and Illumination. And what can I say, how did they manage to squeeze in a little Mario Kart in there and throw in Rainbow Road as well? This goes to show they really learned from the past, and made sure this would be a movie fans and moviegoers alike would enjoy. John Leguizamo must be stunned for sure. Thank you Nintendo and Illumination for making this movie a reality. You’ve made me very proud.

Pretty much every picture is from the Super Mario 64 Gallery but also contains other pics of the plumber from various media.

Favorite Super Mario Movie moments

This is a real dream come true. Never did I think I would see the day where a Super Mario Movie would finally be released. And Chris Pratt, make me proud!
