:This is far from the only case where the Zelda franchise has done this -- [[zeldawiki:Manhandla|Manhandla]] is established as a Piranha Plant variant, for one, and its only presence on this wiki is a brief reference on the Piranha Plant page. I'd assume it's because it's a variation of a Mario series enemy. Thwomps originate from the Mario series and while I've never played Link's Awakening in any form, I do know that it takes a lot of enemy inspiration from the Mario series, so it's more than likely that this enemy is meant to be a spin-off from Thwomps themselves, despite not being from a Mario game.
