Water spouts[1][2] (also referred to as water spigots)[3] are objects that shoot streams of water into the air in Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2. The water is released in timed intervals. Mario (or Luigi) is briefly carried into the air when he enters the stream. When in his Ice form, Mario can freeze the surface of the water to form temporary ice platforms. Making contact with the stream while in his Bee form makes him lose the power-up and fall to the ground. In the Honeyhive Galaxy of Super Mario Galaxy, water spouts are part of decorative fountains.[4]
