:I'd probably say no, as firstly, they're underwater, whereas the Mario Kart ones are all in the air. Secondly, when the Galaxy rings are passed though, the character does a turn, whereas the characters sometimes react vocally to the Mario Kart rings, and do not perform any extra flips than those from the trick off of the launch ramp. They also don't seem to be that similar in appearance, they more closely resemble Dash Panels. Finally, because Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 came first, this would then imply that the Mario Kart rings developed from the underwater ones in those games, when I personally can't see much of a link between the two. If anything, I'd say that they're best suited to having their own separate article or some kind of section on the Dash Panel page, as opposed to being included here. As the article already notes, in the ''Mario Kart Tour'' incarnation of Wii Rainbow Road, [https://youtu.be/UoNYC1aPQbE?t=72 you get "Star Ring" points when you pass through the ends of the rainbow tunnel]. Should these be given coverage in this article's ''Mario Kart Wii'' section, even if they weren't recognised as Star Rings in that game? {{User:Koopa con Carne/Sig}} 17:48, January 13, 2023 (EST) |

Underwater boost rings
It just occurred to me that some Super Mario games have underwater boosting rings, notably Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 in the underwater racing segments. Should those be covered here? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 01:19, 20 April 2018 (EDT)
