Secret of the Dry Bones Shell is the eighty-fourth course in the Story Mode of Super Mario Maker 2. It is set in the castle theme for its main area and in the ghost house theme for its sub-area, as well as in the Super Mario Bros. style. It is posted by Fired-Up Announcer, and has a difficulty rating of 4/4 stars.

Layout

The level begins with a Warp Pipe spawning Dry Bones Shells, a Big Boo and a Boo to bounce on, followed by some Grinders to cross. After entering another Warp Pipe, Mario must enter a Warp Door in order to grab three different Pink Coins:

One Pink Coin is under the right edge of the platform Mario is standing on, and can be collected via a well-timed midair jump out of a Dry Bones Shell.

Another Pink Coin is further down at the left edge of the platform, and must be collected by ground pounding a ? Block parallel to it to release a Beanstalk and collect it.

The last Pink Coin is at the top right, atop some Spike Traps, and can be collected by placing down one Dry Bones Shell to bounce off of it with another to reach said Spike Traps.

Collecting all three Pink Coins allows access to a Key Door leading to a Checkpoint Flag and an optional 30-Coin. After another Warp Door, Mario must crouch in a Dry Bones Shell to evade a Big Thwomp, then advance upward and crouch again at a Donut Block to pass by a Grinder and collect a Key to enter another Key Door. The next challenge has Mario defeat a Big Boo to move a Muncher on a Conveyor Belt, then kick a Dry Bones Shell into a POW Block to defeat additional Munchers and proceed to another Warp Pipe. After another Checkpoint Flag, Mario must evade a Skewer and jump off of the Dry Bones Shell to reach the ax and thus clear the level.
