Kleever's Kiln is the boss level of Crocodile Cauldron, the second world of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. It is where Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong battle a large sword, Kleever, whom they must defeat to access the third world, Krem Quay.
Overview
The battle takes place in a volcanic setting. The arena has a ledge on each side and a wide lava pit in the middle. Two Banana Coins are hidden at the top-right of the area, and they can be reached by either jumping from hooks at the top-right or by Dixie using her Helicopter Spin from the same position. In the Game Boy Advance version, a thunderstorm takes place in the background, complete with flashes of lightning.
At the start of the battle, Kleever rises from the lava, held by an arm made of fire. He starts out by throwing three individual fireballs at Diddy and Dixie. After this, a kannonball falls from the sky. The Kong can attack Kleever by throwing the kannonball at him. When he gets hit, Kleever glows red and shakes, and a set of hooks fall from the sky. The Kongs must jump from the hooks to go to the rightmost part of the arena, and Kleever follows them there while attempting to strike them with more fireballs. This cycle is repeated two more times.
After taking a third hit, Kleever temporarily retreats back into the lava, and then suddenly charges out. He starts hovering in midair, no longer held by the fiery arm. During this phase of the battle, he moves around faster and uses new attacks against the Kongs. He starts by horizontally charging himself at Diddy and Dixie, who must dodge Kleever by jumping over him. Many rows of hooks drop above the pool of lava, and the Kongs must quickly cross to the right. Kleever charges at them again, and a kannonball falls onto the arena. When the lead Kong tosses the kannonball at Kleever, he starts violently slashing for a few seconds. Kleever is defeated after taking six hits, and his blade shatters into pieces as he spins around for a few seconds before falling into the lava. Diddy and Dixie are rewarded with a Kremkoin.
