A '''Bumper''' is a shield-like item in ''[[Super Smash Bros.]]'' It remained on the ground when thrown, damaging players who bumped into it, hence then name Bumper. There was also a bumper floating above the [[Princess Peach's Castle]] stage. For unknown reasons, the [[Flipper]], which is similar to the Bumper, took its place in ''[[Super Smash Bros. Melee]]''. In ''[[Super Smash Bros. Brawl]]'' the Bumper makes its reappearance. Bumpers in this game can float in midair when thrown making it wise to use them as deterrents for enemies trying to get back up ledges. Bumpers can also lie on the surface if thrown downward toward the ground.
