Okay let's not make any more edit skirmishes about this. How is their name based off of Spiny's Japanese name? They are based off of Hammer Bro and look nothing like spiny, and "toge" is just a term for "spiky". And unlike Bros., "Toge" is not a consistent species-indicative naming scheme. These guys are prickly so they're "Toge", like how mister sea-urchin-with-feet is "Toge" in Japanese just because it's prickly. I don't see the Togezo connection here. Somethingone (talk) 11:07, May 6, 2022 (EDT) | |||
:As Doc says, Spinies are known for retracting in their shells and spinning out on their own in the odd appearance, starting with Super Mario Bros. 3. Not a Troopa[edit]
Can we remove this guy from "Koopa Troopas" now, since the "evidence" that it was a Troopa was disproven? -Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 4:30, 12 June 2017 (CT)
- What evidence are you referring to? Hello, I'm Time Turner. 15:19, 2 August 2017 (EDT)
- It previously was titled "Spiked Koopa Troopa" saying the name came from Nintendo Power, but then it was changed to "Spiked Pirate" with the source being the same. Since then, "Spiked Koopa" has also been added, so I'm not sure now. -Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:15, 2 August 2017 (CT)
- It should be noted that Toge Bros. clearly points it to being a member of the Hammer Bros. family, whereas Pirate Koopa can refer to a type of Koopa or Koopa Troopa; if the former, there's no contradiction. LinkTheLefty (talk) 17:21, 2 August 2017 (EDT)

Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:27, 2 August 2017 (CT)
- I say let's see if the source explicitly called it a Koopa Troopa; if not, it's safe enough to consider a Bro. LinkTheLefty (talk) 21:33, 2 August 2017 (EDT)

- SMB3 Spinies drop from the ceiling and spin upside-down. This thing's behavior is more comparable to SMW Ludwig. 14:15, May 6, 2022 (EDT)
