Kartastrophe is a 4-Player minigame in Mario Party 8, as well as a single-player minigame in the game's Test for the Best mode. It has similar gameplay to the Mario Kart games and takes place on a track akin to most circuit tracks. Its name is a portmanteau of "kart" and "catastrophe."
Introduction
The players drive their karts up to the starting line as the lights signal the start of the race.
Gameplay
The four players compete in a simple two-lap race around the circuit. Players can turn their Wii Remotes all the way to turn at sharp curves. The first player to the finish line wins.
The minigame's ending cutscene shows the winner celebrating as the losers sulk. Ties are possible if multiple racers finish within a tiny fraction of a second, albeit extremely hard.
