The object of the minigame is to build up as much pressure as possible in the platform the player's character is standing on, so the character jumps higher than their opponent and wins. The faster the player presses the button, the more pressure they build, and the higher the character will jump. After ten seconds, the characters will jump high in the air, and the player with the higher jump distance wins the game. However, if the players does not press the button, the minigame ends in draw.
As the characters jump into the sky, a small window appears in the bottom right of the screen, showing the characters high in the air and being filmed by a Lakitu. This same Lakitu also accompanies the players while they are building up the most pressure possible.
The maximum possible score for this minigame is 859 yards/meters. Even if the player keeps pressing after that, it will not increase past that point.
