Foxfire is an official name from the [https://www.mobygames.com/game/pc-booter/donkey-kong/cover-art/gameCoverId,598451/ IBM-PC (MS-DOS)] and [https://youtu.be/Nwx9AgdYWbk?t=268 Apple II] ports. Should the redirect be restored?--[[User:Platform|Platform]] ([[User talk:Platform|talk]]) 06:17, July 14, 2021 (EDT) | |||
:I think it should have been kept even if it wasn't official, for search purposes. That's what a redirect is mainly for; it's not like the name was used on the page. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 06:26, July 14, 2021 (EDT) |

Name[edit]
Where does the name Firefox come from? Was it used for the Arcade or NES versions? --Grandy02 07:51, 11 October 2009 (EDT)
This is called foxfire from a book "How to win at Donkey Kong" published back in 1982 (Mario was named that year when Donkey Kong Jr was released.) Firefox here [1], [2], and [3]. --Jumper 11:03, 11 October 2009 (EDT)
- I might rename this article to Foxfire as it may be closer to the original name. Foxfire is part of Japanese folklore (kitsune-bi).--Jumper 11:28, 11 October 2009 (EDT)
火の粉 (hinoko) which means sparks is another name I came about.--Platform 20:49, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
I know this is an old discussion, but for reference, How to Win at Donkey Kong has this to say right on the first page:
- Donkey Kong is a trademark of Nintendo of America, Inc.
- CONSUMER GUIDE and PUBLICATIONS INTERNATIONAL LTD.
- are neither affiliated with nor have any contractual
- relationship with Nintendo of America, Inc. concerning
- publication of this book nor has Nintendo of America, Inc.
- authorized the publication of this book.
If this is the only source for "Foxfire" then perhaps it should be deleted. LinkTheLefty (talk) 10:42, 13 July 2018 (EDT)
- I'm not even seeing "foxfire" be used on the page anywhere. If the book is unofficial entirely, I'm for the redirect deletion. 10:51, 13 July 2018 (EDT)

- The same text is also repeated on the back cover, so it's made pretty clear that it's unofficial. LinkTheLefty (talk) 11:00, 13 July 2018 (EDT)

Foxfire is an official name from the IBM-PC (MS-DOS) and Apple II ports. Should the redirect be restored?--Platform (talk) 06:17, July 14, 2021 (EDT)
