A Start Pad is a kind of Space that appears in a few games.
SMB 3
Start Pads first appear in the game Super Mario Bros. 3. Here they are white squares with the word START on them. They appear at the beginning of each World.
NSMB
Start Pads return in New Super Mario Bros. They serve the same purpose but are now black circles with red arrows.
Mario Party
Start Pads, though called Starts, appear in all of the Mario Party games at the beginning of each Board.
Yoshi's House
In Super Mario World, Yoshi's House could be considered a Start Pad of sorts, as Mario begins here.
