'''Rings''' are the primary collectibles in the ''{{wp|Sonic the Hedgehog}}'' series. They are intended to be collected by [[Sonic the Hedgehog]], attributing to the gimmicks of the game, in a similar way to [[Mario]] collecting [[coin]]s in his games. Similar to coins, rings are typically golden, shiny, and small, allowing Sonic to easily and quickly collect them. Although they are featured prominently in a variety of ''Sonic the Hedgehog'' installments, rings tend to make little appearance in the ''[[Mario & Sonic (series)|Mario & Sonic]]'' series, aside from occasionally being involved in the gimmicks of an event or serving their traditional role as collectibles.

Not much to do here, aside from one long-awaited character.
Rings are surprisingly sparse in ''[[Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games]]'', though they are featured in the [[Dream Long Jump (Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games)|Dream Long Jump]] event, albeit larger and with a different function. The player is intended to guide their character through as many as possible, each providing a brief burst of speed, seeming to do so with a small gust of wind. Otherwise, rings have no purpose in the game, with [[coin]]s typically used as collectibles during the minigames. Notably, the sounds which play when the player traces a figure in the [[Vault (Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games for DS)|Vault]] event are the same sounds traditionally played when rings are collected.

There is a very noticeable change in the quality of the soundtrack, and a sense of most of the effort being put into the level design.

This may also be the lamest and least subtle foreshadowing I have seen in a game. Not to mention, it ends with the island vanishing, making all of your progress feel meaningless.

Particularly, Lineland feels weird having the desert world first, Merlee's Mansion was interesting but had some repetitive elements, Breaking the Bank is very questionable, and certain areas, such as the Bitlands, feel blank and unfinished.

Welcome to the Waluigi Awards! A collection of my least favorite games and gimmicks. Even more pointless.

Worst Storyline - Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam - At this point, the series was handed over to the fans. This really feels like it was put into most of the game. The entire premise seems based on the idea of establishing the Marios are in fact different, which itself was pretty controversial. There is no real storyline here, pointless backtracking, very little feeling of progression, other than one of those run around and do and collect a bunch of random items setups.

Worst Soundtrack - Yoshi's Crafted World - As you may have experienced or known for a while now, the Yoshi games have a bit of a reputation for poorly designed music. In actuality, it makes sense as a game for younger gamers. In fact, it never really bothered me or was that noticeable until after Yoshi's Woolly World. There is a very noticeable change in the quality of the soundtrack, and a sense of most of the effort being put into the level design.

Worst Characters - Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam - Yep. Maybe I'm just biased against this game, but there was a noticeable lack of characters in this game as compared to the previous ones, other than, of course, Toads, and the occasional Yoshi.
