:Why, though? "Professor Toad" is likely translated right from the JP name, which would be Prof. Kinopio. It seems most likely IMO they are intended as the same. [[User:Doc von Schmeltwick|Doc von Schmeltwick]] ([[User talk:Doc von Schmeltwick|talk]]) 17:53, June 12, 2020 (EDT)

::Paper Mario: Color Splash takes place on Prism Island where the Professor in that game focused mainly on the fossil in Marmalade Valley, while Paper Mario: The Origami King takes place in the Mushroom Kingdom where this professor is focused on this ruin area, and he doesn't appear to know Mario. We'll know for sure when the game comes out but I think it's too soon to assume they would be the same person.

Could this Toad be Prof. Kinopio from Paper Mario: Color Splash? Both are yellow-capped Toads that study archaeology and are referred to as professors. I wouldn't doubt that these are the same character, especially with how much The Origami King is inspired by Color Splash. I suggest we wait for the game to come out to decide for sure, but the similarity should be at least noted. Scrooge200 (talk) PMCS Mustard Cafe Sign.png 16:56, June 12, 2020 (EDT)
