Super Mario Encyclopedia
For future reference, we can't cite Super Mario Encyclopedia (the english translation) due to having names originating from the wiki, such as Soarin' Stu. It originates from the wiki. -- FanOfYoshi at 03:19, 28 December 2018 (EST)
- They weren't citing them, they were mentioning the SMBE naming controversy on the subject pages, which should stay on the Super Mario Bros. Encyclopedia and List of Mario-related controversies pages.

Categories
Hello, Doomdorm64. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly categorize the file into a subject category. It's simple to learn how to do so. Just search for the correct category by starting with the following groups:
When uploading, copy the full title of the category and insert it in square brackets into the summary text box below the aboutfile template, replacing the uncategorized template entirely. If you're using the upload function from the text editor, simply add the category link to the description. For example, images related to the game Super Mario World would use: or one it its subcategories. Media files would use: Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Keep in mind that some files can belong to multiple categories. Do not put images into the media files category, or vice versa. If you continue uploading files without categorizing them correctly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing. |
Your recent uploads were missing the proper categories. Please replace the uncategorized template with the proper category, as shown above. 11:34, 15 January 2019 (EST)
Moving files
You can simply move the file to the lowercase .png extension yourself by clicking the "move" tab at the top of the page. No need to tag it with rename. Mario JC 21:03, 16 January 2019 (EST)
- Also, after moving a file, please make sure that any pages that still link to the old name (by going to Special:WhatLinksHere on the old name redirect page, found under "tools" on the left navigation pane) are edited to link to the new name, and that the old name is then marked for deletion.
Mario JC 08:44, 20 January 2019 (EST)
Italics
Please also remember to italicise game titles. Mario JC 02:37, 17 January 2019 (EST)
Please remember this; you were missing them in your recent article. See the Manual of Style for more information. Mario JC 05:51, 2 February 2019 (EST)
Sprites
For future reference, never, ever, ever, ever, ever save a sprite as a .jpg. That absolutely destroys sprites. Save as a .png.
Furthermore, please upload singular sprites, not full sheets, and do so at their actual size. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 01:55, 19 January 2019 (EST)
JPG to PNG
When a file is asking for a PNG replacement, it doesn't mean "upload the JPG as a PNG". That is against policy, and the Wario World images you uploaded showed no signs of improvement in any way.
When you do upload a valid image, the links to the old image need to be replaced, as Mario jc reminded you above. This applies to both moved images and replacement images. 11:50, 20 January 2019 (EST)
Aboutfile
Hello, Doomdorm64. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly use the aboutfile template. What you were doing looks like this, and it is an inconvenience for other users to fix up the template. It is simple to learn how to format it correctly. The pre-loaded syntax is shown below. Just replace the necessary parts with that corresponding information, and remove the entire line for the parameter(s) you don't use. A description of the image subject (parameter |
Hello, regarding your recent uploads while you have uploaded images with a properly added aboutfile template in the past you seem to be forgetting to add the aboutfile template to your uploads as of 15:17, 19 January 2019 with this image. A reminder of how to do this is listed above this comment. Thanks for your understanding. Doomhiker (talk) 11:09, 21 January 2019 (EST)
Summary
For future reference, when uploading images ==Summary== is automatically added to the image, so adding it before the image is uploaded will result in two ==Summary== headers being on the image. Thanks for your understanding. Doomhiker (talk) 9:33 January 27 2019 (EST)
Image quality
The Wario World images you are uploading are rather low quality. Where are you getting them? Is there a chance you can find/capture better quality images? 12:49, 12 February 2019 (EST)
- The same applies to your Super Mario Galaxy (2) images, like this, this, and this. Scrooge200 (talk) 13:13, 12 February 2019 (EST)
In regards to the Super Mario Galaxy images you've uploaded meaning to replace the files that are already there, they weren't of any better quality. The images you uploaded are incredibly blurry, while the originals are clearer. Please compare the images before replacing them, thanks. 13:20, March 19, 2019 (EDT)
I agree with Alex95 (talk), but in general. Make sure to tag your uploads with image-quality or give my guide to better quality screenshots a try. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 11:13, April 17, 2019 (EDT)
Reminder
Please stop forgetting to fix page links after moving a page on the Super Mario Wiki. This isn't a warning, and it's possible that you made a mistake by accident or without realizing it; this is simply a reminder for your information. If the action continues, then a warning will be issued. Thanks for reading and keep contributing. If you feel this reminder was undeserved, you may appeal it. |
You have been told over and over again that when you move a page or file, you need to fix the links so they point to the new name. Click the "What links here" button on the left while on the old name's page to get a list, then fix them. Additionally, when citing sources, you need to add a "references" section with the <references/> markup underneath it (like this). 01:40, 17 February 2019 (EST)
Redirects
Hi, regarding your creation of redirects, don't create them unless they're alternate names used in official venues, are a widely common fan name used for the subject, or are otherwise a common alternate name originating from the wiki's olden days or otherwise. I'm referring specifically to examples like your redirecting of Battlestation Galaxy to Dreadnought Galaxy (not to mention that in this case it would cause confusion with Battlerock Galaxy). Please keep this in mind, otherwise you may see a reminder or even a warning. Thanks! (T|C) 05:18, 10 March 2019 (EDT)
New stub articles
One or more pages that you have recently created have been deleted or marked as a stub article. Please consider the following ideas and suggestions when expanding/creating an article:
|
Specifically Veggie Patch, Spooky Woods, Snowful Slope and Forest Ruins. Please try to put as much information as possible in your articles when creating them next time. (My suggestion would be a more detailed layout section.) Also, try to avoid unnecessary padding to make the article appear longer than it needs to be (the bolded parts here: "Snowful Slope is the second level of the world Chill 'n' Char Island where Donkey and Diddy Kong venture through in the game DK: Jungle Climber."). Mario JC 04:33, April 12, 2019 (EDT)
Minor edits
Edits like this (adding notice templates), especially when making a flood of them, should be marked as minor, as they can be filtered out when users manage through the recent changes. Mario JC 20:52, April 26, 2019 (EDT)
Shake King's Residence
I see the talk page for Shake King's Residence, but is the name really not used anywhere? Looks like the page has existed for a while. 19:28, May 11, 2019 (EDT)
Conjectural pre-release articles
Please do not make pages like this. If we don't even have an official name for an entity in a game that isn't out yet, this can lead to all sorts of issues. That used to be done often (ie Mandibug has an article called "Spacebug" before SMG came out) but when we'll obviously be getting an official name soon, this is just making a bunch of extra needless work. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 02:16, May 16, 2019 (EDT)
File:SMG Torpedo Blaster.jpg and File:SMG Banzai Blaster.jpg
In which video specifically you found these images? Be more specific rather than just writting "YouTube". -- FanOfYoshi at 12:17, July 2, 2019 (EDT)
YouTube screenshot
When you make a YouTube screenshot for a game footage, you don't need to make it a jpg, just make it a png. -- FanOfYoshi at 08:57, July 7, 2019 (EDT)
Images for the SMG2 article
Hey, if you wouldn't mind, could you hold off for a few days on uploading new images for the enemies, objects, etc linked on the galleries on the Super Mario Galaxy 2 page? I am currently in the middle of a project to add high-quality emulator screenshots for all of these items, and it sort of messes up my organization and makes it more difficult to keep track of what I need to do. Thanks! Also, it is preferred to use artwork to represent the objects on the game pages, so I don't understand why you replaced the Urchin and Undergrunt Gunner images there. (Nevermind, I understand the those ones because they are visually distinct.) --Super Mario Fan 67 (T•C•S) 14:05, July 12, 2019 (EDT)
Fawful Guy
Hey. Just wanted to tell you that there already is an image of the Bowser Jr's Journey Fawful Guy that already exists in the MLBISBJJ gallery:

SMB environmental palettes
Hi, do each of those you just uploaded actually show up in the game (ie Minus World or Lost Levels)? If not, they should be deleted, as they are misleading in that case. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 04:59, August 4, 2019 (EDT)
Aboutfiles and galleries
FYI, we don't use that kind of wording: "Mario finds a chest", we use this kind of wording: "Mario finding a chest". For example, a treasure chest, or a chest full of bubbles, as in Dire Dire Docks. -- FanOfYoshi at 06:37, August 5, 2019 (EDT)
Super Mario Bros. 5-8
I don't recall any of the New Super Mario Bros. games being called "Super Mario Bros. 5-8". Those aren't even common terms. 12:14, August 6, 2019 (EDT)
Category linking
Hey, I noticed you were working on a project in the sandbox and linking to categories. Just so you know, categories can actually be linked to using regular links like this. Hope this helps! -- Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 15:23, August 20, 2019 (EDT)
Wario World (Trig)
I am currently in contact with some people about whether or not we can extract model data for treasures and bosses. If we cannot, please allow me to update the treasure page. Was not sure if you were going to try and get those are not with the wario world kick you are on. Trig - 12:19, August 31, 2019 (EDT)
Transparency
Just get Paint.net. It's a free, open-source program that's capabilities are somewhere between MS Paint and Photoshop. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 14:40, October 5, 2019 (EDT)
- Also if the sprite sheet doesn't have a transparent background, just use the magic wand to select it (use 0% for one pixel color) and press the delete key. --Pasta937 (talk) 21:21, October 5, 2019 (EDT)
- As an additional notice, I'm pretty sure those smaller, orange-using sprites on TSR for the Sharp one are the _hypothetical_ ones if they were at the same size as the other versions. I request you go back through and replace them with the later ones that use the dotted red and yellow, as those are the actual ones to show up last I checked. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:55, October 5, 2019 (EDT)
Second reminder
This reminder has been overturned by the MarioWiki staff. The original reminder can still be viewed. |
---|
Please stop creating redirects for seemingly the sake of creating them on the Super Mario Wiki. This isn't a warning, and it's possible that you made a mistake by accident or without realizing it; this is simply a reminder for your information. If the action continues, then a warning will be issued. Thanks for reading and keep contributing. If you feel this reminder was undeserved, you may appeal it. |
I'm referring specifically to this. Please see my message above concerning the creation of redirects on the wiki, or else a warning will be issued. Thanks! (T|C) 09:36, December 8, 2019 (EST)
- One, the redirect was legit – they simply confused Sky Station Galaxy with Good Egg Galaxy. Two, it's generally considered common courtesy to give another informal reminder under the original message if the original message was given a while ago. I strongly suggest appealing this. TheDarkStar
